Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways your group or organization can support Metrocare’s work and help erase the stigma of mental health challenges and intellectual disabilities in Dallas County. If you’re interested in volunteering, please fill out the form below. We look forward to having you or your team join us!

We Care Homeless Outreach Kits

Metrocare serves over 3,000 individuals through its homeless and housing services. The We Care Homeless Outreach Kits hold essential items for unhoused individuals. The kits help outreach workers build trusting relationships with homeless individuals and enable them to connect with our clinics and mental health services.

Collect essential items to assemble care kits for distribution, such as:

  • A toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • A pack of wet wipes
  • 2 single-serving snacks
  • A bottle of water

Welcome Home Baskets

Metrocare is one of the largest providers of permanent supportive housing in Dallas County. As individuals move into housing, a basket full of home goods can welcome them into a new home and give them the essential items to begin making a house feel like their home.

Collect essential items to assemble housewarming baskets, such as:

  • Bathroom items
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Kitchen utensils and dinnerware
  • Cooking essentials
  • Towels and linens

Hope Box Supply Drive

Metrocare’s Suicide Prevention and Resilience in Children (SPARC) program provides weekly therapy for teens who made a recent suicide attempt or have experienced worsening suicidal thoughts. Teens decorate their own Hope Box that holds items, pictures, or symbols to remind them of their reasons for living.

Collect supplies for SPARC teens to use in decorating their Hope Box, such as:

  • Art box
  • Glue sticks
  • Colored pens and markers
  • Construction and scrap paper
  • Aprons
  • Paint and paint brushes

“Volunteers don’t often realize the profound impact they have on our organization and the people we serve. Our staff encounter many clients daily who are facing significant challenges or difficult times. The dedication of our volunteers—whether through their time, effort, or financial support—can truly brighten the lives of those we help.”
