Do you serve clients with depression who are stuck due to low motivation and lack of interest? In this session, we will discuss how these patterns can keep clients stuck and introduce some cognitive-behavioral techniques to introduce to your counseling practice.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Explain presenting symptoms and common cognitive and behavioral patterns associated with depression as outlined in the DSM-5-TR
  • Discuss the specific challenges related to low motivation and lack of interest
  • Identify evidentially supportive cognitive intervention models used by counselors and helping professionals for the treatment of depression
  • Implement cognitive behavioral intervention techniques into their counseling practice that will address low motivation and lack of interest in depression

Speaker: Erin Kaszynski, PhD, LPC

Dr. Kaszynski is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas (#74929) with a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. She is the Associate Director of Clinical Education and Research at Metrocare. Dr. Kaszynski received training in CBT through the Beck Institute and has experience providing Cognitive-behavioral interventions across multiple counseling settings. Her professional experience extends to teaching and supervising master’s level counseling students and providing professional development training for licensed practitioners.
